Nintendo finally announced a western release for the intriguing Pokemon game, Detective Pikachu for the 3DS. This game, originally launched in February 2016 in Japan, brings with it a sassy, talkative Pikachu who joins up with the hero of the game to solve mysteries and find out what is happening to the city. Fans can rejoice in a new, standalone Pikachu game that players haven’t seen since Hey Pikachu launched on the N64 in 1998!
Along with Detective Pikachu making its way west-ward, Nintendo is also releasing a giant Pikachu amiibo alongside the game to help out players when they get stuck by unlocking Pika Prompt videos for players to watch and solve. An exclusive New 2DS XL with Pikachu’s face is also launching January 26 for $159.99. And if all of this wasn’t enough, a Detective Pikachu movie is in the works, with our favorite sleuth being voiced by Ryan Reynolds, yes, Ryan Reynolds.
Needless to say, Nintendo is starting their year off strong and I cannot wait to get my hands on this game to see what shenanigans Pikachu and I can get into on this crazy adventure.
Detective Pikachu will retail for $39.99 and is set to launch March 23.
