During their E3 direct, Nintendo announced the official release date for the highly anticipated fighter Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
This is the most inclusive Smash Bros. to date, with every character from the series’ history making their way to the Nintendo Switch. Yes, this means Ice Climbers, Solid Snake, and Wolf are all making their return. However, the initial roster will be rather small, Sakurai said it might even look like the initial Nintendo 64 roster. Through natural progression though, new characters will be unlocked. Super Smash Bros Ultimate will have a streamlined way of unlocking characters, but more about this wasn’t announced.
There will be small refinements to gameplay for players to master like the perfect shield and new 1v1 damage ratios. Master Super Smash Bros. players will have a lot to learn, even while everything still feels natural. Additionally, it was also announced today that Gamecube controllers will also be compatible. We’re assuming that players who already own a Gamecube adapter will be able to use that, but more info on that to come soon. Lastly, all existed Super Smash Bros amiibo will be compatible with Super Smash Bros Ultimate, as well as all editions of each character. We’re going to try to get our hands on Super Smash Bros Ultimate this week as part of our E3 coverage, but the lines to play have been insane. Super Smash Bros Ultimate will be launching December 7th, until then check out the new footage below!
