Bethesda and Arkane Studios seem committed to supporting Prey for a while to come. Announced today, Prey will be getting a whole suite of new content updates. The first is available today as a free update with three new modes. Story mode, which serves to help players that were getting dominated by the game’s punishing difficulty. Survival mode, a new mode meant to make a difficult game even harder similar to a hardcore mode. Lastly, a fan requested new game plus mode for people who want to continue after completion.
An all new DLC expansion called Mooncrash which is also launching today puts players in the shoes of a scientist who must relive the events of a station going dark on the moon. This DLC is lauded as having “infinite replayability” because no two runs of this mode are the same. When players fail, the simulation resets and they can try again. Mooncrash will also later get another update that pits players against other players as Typhon, aptly called Typhon Hunter mode. Typhon Hunter will also be getting a VR update, as well as the base game getting a separate VR mode. There is a lot of content updates on the way for Prey, and even though they’re out now, we don’t have our consoles here at E3, so we’re hoping to get our hands on these modes before we get home!
