With so many different play-styles and customization options on the Call of Duty franchise, I’m surprised there hasn’t ever been a companion app before. Activision today announced the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 companion app.
The app is designed to connect players, your squad, and give players tips based on how they play. Players will be able to keep track of their friend’s progress in Black Ops 4. This was designed to see how well they’re playing and keep track of their stats. Additionally, players can form a squad of up to 20 players and complete objectives as a squad. Each week, squads will be assigned different in-game tasks to complete for exclusive rewards. These rewards range from in-game to real life rewards through Call of Duty partnerships like KontrolFreek.
Players will be able to connect the app directly to their in-game, and get a detailed look at previously played matches in Zombies, Blackout, and multiplayer. This will also span across Call of Duty: WWII. Once registered, players will get a weekly action report of how well they played in the previous week, as well as suggestions and tips based on their playstyle. This doesn’t just track stats though, there are heat-maps for busy in-map locations, and weapon, equipment, and loadout stats.
The final big feature of the companion app is the event-tracker and update notes. The app is designed to keep players up to date in all aspects of Black Ops 4. This means that if players want to know certain events that happen during the week, or if a new update just dropped, patch notes will be included to give players to most recent news on the FPS mega-hit. The Call of Duty companion app is available now for iOS and Android.
